Memorial Learning Garden
Regina Weeks Memorial Learning Garden

With this flower & vegetable garden we remember fellow teacher & friend, Regina Weeks and her dedication to and passion for the children of Funston Elementary School. It is a tremendous learning tool for all Students, Teachers and Parents of our school. Mrs. Weeks fought long and hard again cancer and it's devastating effects on her body but her spirit and faith never waived. Mrs. Weeks'  battle against cancer ended in May 2010.

Since it's beginning, a butterfly area has been added in memory of 1st gr. student, Daniela Campos, who was killed in a car accident in December 2010 and will soon include a memorial to Mrs. Mary Walker, Music Teacher, who lost her battle against cancer in October 2011.

A big thank you to Mrs. Beth Miller and her Gifted Students for all of their hard work to see a vision and make it happen! They spend many hours learning in and about the garden and helping to maintain its beauty. Thank you also to Mrs. Brandy Gay for all of the gorgeous pictures.

Beth Miller Arbor Dedication

In the Spring of 2013, a steel arbor was dedicated in honor of Mrs. Beth Miller for all of her hard work and dedication to the Funston School Learning Garden. The arbor was also dedicated in memory of Mrs. Miller's son, Evan, who passed away in April of 2012. Four panels were placed in the sides of the arbor, each of particular significance to Mrs. Miller, a Falcon, a Cancer Awareness Ribbon, Music Notes & a Hummingbird.
The arbor was designed and constructed by former Funston students who were enrolled in the CCHS Metals department classes under the direction of Mr. Tim Hobbs.
